Our Story

A community foundation is a vehicle for people of all means to make a lasting difference in the community causes they care about.”

— CFRRR.ORG

The Coburg Community Foundation sprang from the experiences of four of its founding board members’ participation in the Ford Institute Leadership Program. The construction of the picnic shelter in Pfeiffer Park in 2015 was the capstone project of this community leadership program. Jeanne Schapper, Jen Mosier, Leah Claypool, and Michelle Sunia were all a part of this program cohort. This experience demonstrated the need in the community for a non-profit organization to provide a structure for community development in the future. These four women were shortly joined by Nanci McKibben, a long-time community volunteer, and together they launched the Coburg Community Foundation. The Coburg Community Foundation was awarded 501(c)3 non-profit status in March of 2019.
